ALTADENA

My family moved to Altadena in 2011, after looking many years for a home.

Our house was on Raymond Avenue, south of Farnsworth Park. We slowly started repairing and painting, exploring the neighborhood, planting trees and hearing the owls and coyotes hoot and howl at night. Our son, Toby, felt free to explore, riding his bike along trails and would see bears and hawks and experience the profound joy of finding himself in nature and at peace.

I started designing and making hardware in our garage in 2014, inspired by nature and working with the natural light to guide my forms; to give me the softness and vitality that I was looking for.

Altadena was a very welcoming place to be, and also wild and romantic; a place where we could dream and explore, and we loved being there with all of our hearts.

On January 7th, the fire took everything away. What was a neighborhood was now a wasteland of empty lots and it was easy to feel hopeless, or to want to move away.

In time the grief has mellowed, and the love and the wish to return to Altadena has returned. I am rebuilding. Every house being built is a celebration. The rains bring life back, as do we. Rebuilding takes determination and it is a choice. It can be expensive also.

As someone who has lived and worked in Altadena, and who is planning on returning, I am offering a 40% discount on my hardware for my fellow Altadena homeowners.

If you would like to talk about using my hardware for your rebuild, please contact me directly at info@pruskinhardware.com.

Thank you,

Ben
